Busy like a bumble bee!

Like what they always say,the beginning is always the hardest for everything.
For the past half a year,i've been going to places understanding the crowd at different locations, studying my books, calculating time and again our budget. And most importantly, consulting professional help from people in the FnB trade.

Its very reassuring to find people who are so helpful even though im about to join them in the same trade. One special mention would be lance selling katong laksa at Holland Village.Honestly,Holland is probably the most challenging place to open any eatery with the sky rocketing rental prices. So i have to lift my hat off to him!Anyway from stranger to friends, hes been really helpful, patiently answering our enquires and giving us a lot of advises.

Ive lost track of how many times we have to start all over again from scratch and the many obstacles we have came across.Especially for a foodie like me,i have high expectations for the ambience, food and the concept of the restaurant.Needless to say, while planning for mine,i expect a certain quality too.
From planning the menu# like a chef#,thinking of advertisements and marketing portion#like a designer#,calculating budget and getting funds#like an accountant#,planning the restaurant layout#like an interior designer and lastly, location finding island wide#like property agent#.

Well,it ain't easy for sure. But,as the saying goes:
Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.

I would say i'm much ready now after doing my homework. But still, theres more hard work i foresee coming my way and i can't wait to accept the challenges!Well, for updates,me and my partner have already decided on a place and i guess the day we are waiting for so long would finally be happening soon.

#keeping my fingers crossed#

All about life as an Airline crew (Part 1)

Blue eyeshadow, red lipstick, red nails and neatly hair sprayed hair with a body hugging custom-made uniform.I believe this is the dream of many to don on such an uniform and strut down international airports with a charming smile and a suitcase. On the surface,it seems very easy and glamourous aint it?

But what really are the challenges faced by the crew and what goes behind that big plastered smile?Life as a crew is not all sweet and rosy.Like many would say its a Love-hate relationship. With that, let me share my side of my past flying stories to you guys out there who have always been interested to know what we, as crew, do outstation and onboard.
.
.
.
Firstly, most of us have this syndrome whenever we report for flight-#PFS#.The definition of PFS is PRE-FLIGHT SYNDROME.This syndrome includes draggy legs, heart pumping and anxiety attack.Yes normally we start praying. This syndrome occurs because we flew with different people every flight and trust me,there are as much warped people around as well as awesomely nice ones.Everyone have different working styles, some are motivational while some have serious character flaws.

Honestly,im horrified by the quality of some crew who were promoted.Yes,let me tell you what the " so called bosses" do.I seen many who sat in the crew seat from take-off to landing, not working at all and their poor crew have to struggle on their own.And one just went  galley to galley in search of food during service time, while we are busy serving passengers.Others just used their eye power to"help"and then, still have the cheek to complain when the work was not done to his liking.

I picked up a lot of acting skills during flying days just to deal with such people. You have to act really bimbotic sometimes to feed their ego.Rule of the thumb is just to smile and thanked them even when they just put you down to make themselves look better.More often then not,I always end up rolling my eyes when i walked away after listening to their senseless preaching.

ps:Im not saying everyone is like that. There are more nice ones actually then the above mentioned people. But since bad stories are always meant to be hidden during flying days, now Ive stopped.I might as well share some stories with you guys.

Secondly, I think this picture have say it all.

With ridiculously short stays nowadays, crew spends most of their time looking at hotel room's walls then exploring the country that they had just worked hours just to reach there. Most flight only have 1 clear day for you to do your shopping or to do sight seeing. so you have to choose ONE!In fact,Ive landed in sydney airport, stayed in sydney hotel but never step foot out of the hotel at all until its time to return home.Thats cause the stay is so short, you only have about 24 hours there to sleep.

Thirdly, the job is pretty monotonous.Basically you do the same things, day in and day out.Thats also the reason why i left the airlines because im someone who like challenges in life and moreover, im still so young. I did not want to get stuck to the comfort zone and never try venturing into other career paths that might lead me to greater things in life. And thus, despite many disapproving looks of others,i went ahead with my decision. I guess the best support Ive gotten so far were surprisingly from my ex collegues, who were glad i found the direction i want in my career path.

I hope im not scaring you guys out with this post. These are just some challenges you will be likely to face during flying. The next post i will share with you the crazy ,fun and adventurous life of a crew. Come to think about,i still missed it every now and then when looking at my batchmates' new uploaded photos on fb.
Its been a great experience!

Killer themed Photoshoot.

Its been a reallllllly long time since i last did a shoot.Come to think about it,its been 4 years. Before i officially started doing events and then went into flying. And thus, i decided to do a shoot that ive always  been very interested in.#Killer themed#Having been always intrigued by movies with sexy hot looking female killers holding guns, slashing and shooting people and strangely, still managed to stay hot at the same time.

''Don't they ever sweat at all after all that massive killings?"

This time round i worked with John Chua from IPixelPhotography.com and Michelle from Mich makeover.
Ive to say its one of my best shoot ever. The shots turned out really awesome and i love how the overall shoot complement really nicely with the place-Kranji memorial.

Most importantly, the make up is really awesome! Michelle is one of the few make up artist that managed to draw my eyes to my satisfaction. My eyes belongs to the small korean looking type and many make up artists are unable to draw it to bring out the spirit in the eyes.BUT Mich did!
Maybe i might even hire her for my wedding next time hhaa!

(PS:this is not an advertorial,im speaking nothing but the truth!")

Ending photo with the lovely team ..

Botox

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/lips-nose-cosmetic-packages-boom-valentines-day-083147152.html

Well.. I was reading this news online and decided I should probably share my story of botox to the keen ones out there.Anyways to be honest,I ever went for a botox session once. When I was just a mere 21,just for the fun of it and also if it really works better still right? For my case,i was pretty conscious about my squarish jawline all along. Ive always wondered how i would look like with a small petite face.

And thus, under recommendation.I went to a surgical clinic in Paragon to have it fixed. And damn.It cost me a hefty 2k plus. Its a very simple procedure. All you need is to do is to lie down on that clinic bed.And your anesthetic doctor would inject 6 botox shots at the side of your jawline.SO in total, its 12 shots.Mine was supposingly a very experienced doctor.

Seriously each shot took my breath away because Ive always been scared of injection. But after that one day session.Im no longer scared of INJECTIONS anymore.

Well anyway, after paying such a considerable amount for my botox and undergoing 12 injection shots.I was full of hope and excitedly waiting for my face to become smaller .Finally after a week, yes ,my jawline did become smaller and no longer as squarish as before but it comes in a package together with side effects too.

MY SMILE IS AS STIFF AS A STONE.

I cant smile naturally.#wails#Whenever i smile, its a lopsided twisted one.And i have to endure 3 weeks of laughter from my besties.Trust me. They really cracked up and doubled over with laughter whenever they saw me for that few weeks. Poor me have to stop smiling widely for that period, ive to attempt a feeble weak (trying to look natural)one.

The good side is? Everyone commented i look slimmer.Thats cause one's chubby face always create this unfair illusion that it equate to the body size too.which is definitely wrong.

Anyway ,I also realized eventually that i was ripped off at Paragon.Theres other clinics out there charging 500 plus only for one session.# Im being treated and con off like a tai tai at the age of 21#.Seriously how can the doctor be so heartless. He could have warn me about it right? hahahaa.

Anyway that was indeed quite an experience and trust me after that one session,I never went back for more. The result is not quite what i expected as the change is minimal and you have to go back every 3-4 months for continuous session. Most importantly,I never knew what was in that little botox shot.If it can make my mouth twitched like that. I wonder how it would affect the rest of my body in the long run.

But for the curious ones, you can always try and see the result for yourself. Its worth trying for that one time experience.Perhaps wedding? The side effects does varies for individuals. SO good luck!
