Let's CHEERS to 2012!

"Before the sun sets in this year, before the memories fade, before the net works get jammed, wishing you and your family Happy New Year!''

Every festive period is a day for all of us to find an excuse to consume more fats, less healthy and superb yummalicious food.Forget about that diet you been trying to be on for a month!New Year's Eve is a time for celebration and sharing good times with friends and family over a savoury New Year's dinner is a great way to celebrate.

So enjoy. Think less.Eat more. Worry about the fats later.

so wheres your new year dinner gonna be at?
.
.
.

Mine's at SauceBar & Grill, the Butter Factory team’s first solo foray into F&B.The thing that caught my eye first would be the large alfresco courtyard sitting right at the exit of the Esplanade Theatres. As an avid lover of Alfresco dining, although this is going to be my first time at Sauce but i believed its going to be a pleasant dining experience.

Like what i always love to say:
''Let the Menu speak a thousand words"

The New Year's Eve set dinner menu is already tickling my tastebud. Simply cant wait for tonight's lovely dinner especially since its going to be a birthday celebration of a dear friend of mine.
Awesome food. Lovely company. What else MORE can we ask for to welcome 2012!

Stay tuned for my reviews after tonight's dinner!

Once again. HAPPY FATTY 2012! SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!

The rocky mudpie.

Trails and tribulations are common in the start up of all business.
No surprise for mine too.
I believe all have heard of this saying"CLOSE friends can never do business together"
Well i have to reply" hell yeah, its true!'
At least for my case.
Ultimately, thats cause me and my friends treasure the friendship more then anything.
The last thing we wanted is to sacrifice years of friendship over disputes in a business.
I thank my blessings for this.

"It' started out with a partnership of 4.
But after several discussions, small little arguments and conflict of views.
Of course, not forgetting fun and laughter too.
It takes only a short moment for us to realise.
Getting into a partnership is not as easy as ABC and 1,2,3.

Getting like-minded people to collaborate together who share the same views and goals is like: finding one pink
M&ms chocolate buried among millions of colourful ones.
Its not easy but yet its not impossible also.

I whipped this from the net.
which i find it pretty enlightening:

Though you may have known them a long time – as a work colleague, a friend, or even a spouse – could you work well together in a business? Do your skills and experience complement each other? Can you all put in the same amount of time and effort, or do you also have other, external, commitments? What are your financial circumstances? Do your temperaments match or complement each other or could clashes emerge? In many ways, a partnership is like a marriage and requires as much thought and commitment.

And so.
My rocky mudpie road started out with a big bang alongside one more partner.
Trust me.Our adventure didn't just stop at here.
Keep reading on.

Yours truly shall end the post with the usual food recommendation.
If you ever visited london, you must or you should already have tried it.
THE LEGENDARY DUCK RICE.
Its cripsy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
The meat is firm with the right amount of fats.
Like what my friend from London explained:
"The weather in london is much colder then in singapore, thus the ducks are firmer with a layer of fats to keep them warm."
I do not know how true is that statement but i have to agree our local ducks seems to be a little malnourished after trying thiers.

Try it!
Its located at bayswater.London.

Til then,
Ending off the post with a snapshot of Michelle and me in LONDON.

London's calling...Are you there yet?

This is my first post on this Food blog.
Like many restaurants, each and everyone have their own success story to tell.
But every success comes with hard work put in and many obstacles along the way.

I enjoyed reading successful stories of restaurants and cafe.
Probably cuz im a total foodie myself.
Its amazing to know the story behind every delicious food that i put into my mouth.
For eg,Where the food came about, whose the founder, the amount of hard work they put in to achieve what it was today.
It always motivates me greatly and it spurs me to open my own restaurant.

And yes. Im really doing it.
I've always wondered why all the aspiring or successful restauranteur never blogs about their challenging journey everyday to set up a restaurant or a cafe. Maybe they fear failures or maybe they fear others becoming more successful then them. But for me,opening a cafe has always been my dream and i would love to share this happiness and learning opportunity for others who dares to dream too.

Because this is what i believed in:
Every successful people starts off with something small. It was but only a little insignificant idea that grew into something bigger then they could ever imagined.Never doubt what your little idea could do to change your life and the world.

Coming back to the purpose of this blog,
I want to share my love for food with the other foodie out there and also to the aspiring restauranteur,to embark on a journey with me to my dream.Opening a cafe where my chefs can whipped a nice good meal that satisfy the souls and the stomachs of many others.

Be it a success or if it ever just become a past story in future.
I wish and sincerely hope my cafe had once brightened up a day of someone or bring joy to a a family.

With that,
The below picture shall end my first post on this blog.
Its an awesome mixed grill when i was in Amsterdam last year.
The funny thing about this dish is you have to eat it from your lap.
That would be your so called table-that wooden plate.
Its fun eh?
